BAFATEX – laid scrims for the most demanding applications

BAFATEX GmbH is a German family business based in Wipperfürth, North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded in 1957, it combines traditional values with modern production methods. With around 33 employees, BAFATEX specialises in developing and manufacturing diagonally laid scrims, known under the BAFA® brand. These technical textiles are lightweight, stable and versatile, and are used in construction, automotive, lightweight engineering, packaging and sports equipment.

A key feature of BAFA® laid scrims is that they can be tailored to each application. BAFATEX processes natural fibres such as cotton, flax and jute as well as synthetic fibres such as polyester, polyamide and glass. The yarns are laid diagonally and fixed with binders, creating a stable diamond structure. Innovative technology allows widths from 10 to 270 centimetres, and small batch sizes are no problem. This flexibility enables the company to develop customised solutions for specific customer requirements.

BAFATEX places great emphasis on sustainability and quality. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified and offers, among other things, biodegradable reinforcement materials for packaging. One example of its capacity for innovation is its work with Fischer Sports on the high-end RC ONE ski, where BAFA® scrims were integrated into the tip and tail to reduce weight and improve performance. This partnership underlines BAFATEX’s ability to supply high-quality technical textiles for demanding applications.
