MetrioPharm, based in Zurich and Berlin, is a specialist pharmaceutical company dedicated entirely to developing the drug “MP1000”. The drug is still in development and has not yet generated revenue. MP1000 is designed as a modern immunomodulator that strengthens the human immune system’s own defences against pathogens without harming the body.
In what may one day be called “the century of antibiotics”, MetrioPharm addresses the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. MP1000 aims to offer an alternative by modulating the immune system without the risk of overreaction seen in autoimmune diseases. Rather than acting as a conventional antibiotic, it supports the immune system effectively and safely, avoiding overreaction and related risks such as sepsis or chronic inflammation.
Around €20 million has been invested in developing MP1000 so far. MetrioPharm plans to begin clinical trials in humans this year. This phase is crucial to validate MP1000’s potential to fight disease without traditional, toxic drugs. If the first trials succeed, a major pharmaceutical partner will be needed to run larger trials and bring the drug to market within three to four years.
As one of the largest shareholders with a stake of around 7%, Dreyer sees great potential in MP1000 as a pioneering treatment that could replace traditional drugs. The investment reflects confidence in MetrioPharm’s innovative approach and the aim of achieving both medical and commercial success.
